On Wednesday 12 November 2025, the Grand Ducal Police issued a statement marking the fifteenth anniversary of the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST).
Since 2010, the ENFAST network, in collaboration with Europol, has brought together police forces from 38 countries around a common goal: to apprehend the most dangerous fugitives.
With teams of specialised investigators available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in each participating country, ENFAST facilitates faster and more effective searches, contributing each year to the arrest of approximately 400 dangerous fugitives, according to police figures.
In total, representatives from the 27 EU Member States, as well as Europol, Interpol, the United Kingdom, the United States Marshals Service, Switzerland, Norway, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Canada and Australia, are partners.
With Europol's support, the website eumostwanted.eu has been operating for about a decade. Gathering wanted notices from each partner country, it allows for the inclusion of public contributions in the search for fugitives and leverages information provided by the public. Since its launch, dozens of people have been apprehended thanks to public appeals on this website.
The Fugitive Search Unit (FAST Luxembourg) of the Luxembourg Criminal Investigation Department (SPJ) plays a central role within this European initiative. Since 2018, Luxembourg officers have apprehended more than 120 fugitives, nearly half of them within the Grand Duchy's borders. These efforts and successes in locating fugitives are often achieved in cooperation with authorities in other countries, demonstrating the effectiveness of police cooperation and the strength of alliances, noted the Grand Ducal Police.
From 2026 to 2027, Luxembourg will hold the FRABELUX Presidency of the ENFAST network, alongside France and Belgium. According to the police, this presents an opportunity to strengthen European cooperation and further develop expertise. The police added that the network continues to innovate through operations such as the Trackathon, which brings together over 100 investigators for intensive search operations.
Financial support for the ENFAST Presidency is provided by the European Commission's Internal Security Fund (ISF).
