The Grand Ducal Police have urged motorists not to pick up hitchhikers near the Fridhaff industrial area after a vehicle break-in in the early hours of Friday 22 November 2024.

At around 02:15 on Friday, a car break-in was reported in Hoscheid-Dickt, with the perpetrators then fleeing in the direction of Diekirch in a black vehicle.

On the E421, near the Brandenburg junction, a police patrol found the vehicle and followed the suspects. Ultimately, the vehicle was found with the engine running at a petrol station in Fridhaff. There was no trace of the perpetrators, who were still being sought as of 05:40 on Friday morning.

The police have asked that motorists do not pick up hitchhikers in and around the Fridhaff industrial area, Diekirch or Erpeldange. Instead, they should report any "suspicious, dirty and wet" individuals to the Diekirch police station via tel.: 244 80 1000 or to the emergency number 113.
