On Wednesday 30 October 2024, Luxembourg's Minister of Culture, Eric Thill, presented the Luxembourgticket GIE economic interest group.
Created on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with state, municipal and civil institutions from the cultural, sports and tourism sectors, this GIE took over, on 1 July 2024, the activities related to the national ticket office luxembourgticket.lu, as well as the echo.lu and culture.lu portals, previously managed by the Luxembourg Agency for Cultural Action (alac), with the aim of perpetuating and developing them.
Established by the Ministry of Culture on 17 November 2023, the Luxembourgticket GIE marks the beginning of a new chapter for the national ticketing system, which was created in 2003: “The strength of the ticketing system lies in the network,” the Minister stressed. “It is on this strength that we will build, because it is in this network that there is still a great deal of untapped potential. This is where the experiences of dozens of organisers and thousands of events converge, and it is on this basis that the Luxembourgticket GIE can build to become a reference in business intelligence in the cultural, sporting and tourism fields. Synergies can thus emerge, benefiting both organisers and the public.”
To achieve this, Luxembourgticket GIE has adopted a strategy to position itself as a pivotal point in the events sector in Luxembourg, bringing together ticketing services (luxembourgticket.lu), promotion of cultural initiatives (culture.lu) and a comprehensive agenda with all events across the Grand Duchy (echo.lu).
The director, Fabien Madimba, presented the objectives of the GIE, which are based on critical analyses of existing tools and processes, strengthening communication, identifying quantitative and qualitative indicators, seeking new partners, strengthening the network and intensifying relations, in order to establish solid and sustainable partnerships, all while focusing on a close collaboration approach with partners in the sector.
Luxembourgticket GIE currently has a team of nine people. It benefits from an agreement with the Ministry of Culture with a budget of €866,000 for the 2024 and 2025 financial years. The increase in this allocation in the State's multi-year budget corresponds to the planned developments in human resources.
The Luxembourgticket GIE is administered by a management board made up of five groups of members representing the cultural, sports and tourism sectors:
- for the group of members of the State: Tom Feider, General Inspectorate of Finance; Alessandra Luciano (secretary), Ministry of Culture; Catherine Pastoret, Ministry of Sports; Gina Reuland, Ministry of the Economy, Directorate-General for Tourism; Luc Schadeck (president), Ministry of Culture
- for the group of members of the Luxembourg Football Federation: Joël Wolff, Luxembourg Football Federation
- for the group of members of the Luxembourg Network of Regional Cultural Centres: Maxime Bender (vice-president), Luxembourg Network of Regional Cultural Centres; Réjane Nennig, Luxembourg Network of Regional Cultural Centres
- for the group of members of cities and municipalities: Manuel Ribeiro, Artikuss, Soleuvre
- for the group of members who do not have a regular physical location for their events: Vicky Zeimetz, L’Alliance Musicale
