On the afternoon of Thursday 5 September 2024, Luxembourg's weather portal MeteoLux issued a warning for thunderstorms on Thursday evening and Friday morning.

A yellow ("potential danger") alert is in place for all of Luxembourg from 17:00 on Thursday 5 September until 06:00 on Friday 6 September 2024.

During this period, there is a risk of thunderstorms with cumulative rainfall of 15 to 30 l/m² "in a short time". In certain areas, the cumulative rainfall could be higher.
