On Wednesday 31 July 2024, POST Luxembourg announced it is launching a unique drawing competition, inviting children to imagine and draw their own stamp celebrating Kleeschen (Saint Nicholas).
The winning stamp will be officially issued by POST Luxembourg in the run-up to Saint Nicholas Day, in the form of a "meng.post" stamp, the customisable stamp from POST Philately. A loyal partner of Saint Nicholas, POST Luxembourg opens the "Kleeschen Secretariat" every year in November. Before sending the precious letters to Saint Nicholas, the secretariat sends each sender a reply letter accompanied by a small surprise. The winning stamp of the competition will also be used this year for the reply letters.
The "Saint-Nicolas 2024" stamp also has a charitable purpose, POST Luxembourg added, as all proceeds from the sale of the stamp will be donated to a Luxembourg association that works to help disadvantaged children.
Until 15 September 2024, children between the ages of four and eight are invited to participate in the competition and demonstrate their creativity.
The detailed terms of participation and the prizes for the three best creations are available on the website post4kids/concours-dessin-kleeschen, among other useful information.
A jury made up of art professionals and philately experts will evaluate the drawings according to the criteria of creativity, originality, respect for the theme and artistic quality adapted to the child’s age. The winning stamp will be announced in October 2024.
