On Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 July 2024, two separate road accidents occurred; the Grand Ducal Police have launched a call for witnesses in relation to the motorcycle accident on Monday.

On Monday at around 19:10, a traffic accident occurred between a car and a motorcycle on the CR172 country road between Mondercange and Ehlange.

According to initial information, the car driver had to avoid a tractor that was taking up more than half of the road, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was injured and taken to hospital. The tractor reportedly did not stop, the police noted.

The police are seeking witnesses to help clarify the circumstances of the accident. Anyone with relevant information should contact the Porte du Sud police station via tel.: 244-57 1000 or via mail: police.portedusud@police.etat.lu.

The second accident occurred after a hit-and-run in Windhof on Tuesday. At 15:45, the Grand Ducal Police were informed of a driver who was driving erratically between Goeblingen and Goertzingen in the direction of Capellen. When a police patrol attempted to stop the driver, he reportedly ignored all requests from the police officers and fled. A pursuit was launched, during which he made several “daring overtaking manoeuvres”, some at high speed, and ignored all traffic regulations. The police added that, as the driver was headed toward a police vehicle in Windhof that was blocking the road, the fleeing vehicle crashed into the police car. A police officer was slightly injured and was subsequently taken to hospital for a check-up.

According to the police, the driver attempted to flee despite the vehicle being badly damaged. However, he was caught a few meters away. As he still refused to leave the vehicle, he had to be restrained.

He was then given an alcohol test, which came back positive. Consequently, his driver's license was confiscated, and he was also charged with resisting arrest.
