The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a large-scale police operation took place in Echternach on Tuesday 23 July 2024.
During the operation on Tuesday evening, northern region police officers became aware of a man who was attempting to evade a personal check and fled the scene.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after and a body search revealed several bags containing almost 10 g of cocaine and a large amount of cash. Since the police strongly suspected that the individual was a drug dealer, they informed the Diekirch public prosecutor's office.
An investigation was launched, and a house search resulted in the seizure of over 10 kg of cannabis, around 800 g of cocaine and other drugs, as well as a weapon.
Other items relevant to the crime, including luxury wristwatches, over €14,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia, were also seized and confiscated on the orders of the public prosecutor's office.
The suspect was arrested and brought before the investigating judge in Diekirch on Wednesday 24 July 2024 for a hearing. The judge ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody.
