The Maison du Grand-Duc has reported that Prince Félix of Luxembourg will celebrate his 40th birthday on Monday 3 June 2024.
Prince Félix Léopold Marie Guillaume was born on 3 June 1984 at the Maternité Grand-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg. He is the second child of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. He is currently fourth in line to the throne.
Prince Félix married Claire Lademacher (now Princess Claire of Luxembourg) on 21 September 2013 at the Basilica of Sainte Marie-Madeleine de Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in France. The couple have three children: a daughter, Princess Amalia Gabriela Maria Teresa (born 15 June 2014) and two sons, Prince Liam Henri Hartmut (born 28 November 2016) and Prince Balthazar Félix Karl (born 7 January 2024).
According to the Grand Ducal Court, Prince Félix completed his primary education in Lorentzweiler before pursuing his secondary school studies at École Privée Notre-Dame Sainte-Sophie. He later attended the American School of Luxembourg. In 1998, he joined the Swiss boarding school Collège Alpin Beau Soleil in Villars-sur-Ollon, where he met his future wife. He went on to join the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom but quit for health reasons before he could graduate.
From 2005 to 2009, Prince Félix worked in the marketing and public relations department of a Swiss company specialising in the organisation of sporting and cultural events. He then resumed his studies, starting with intensive Italian language courses in Milan before pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and then a Master's degree in Bioethics at the University Regina Apostolorum in Rome in 2013.
Since then, he and his wife have been managing the Château les Crostes vineyard in Lorgues in southern France. In 2016, Prince Félix became President of the Lorgues Terre de Vins association, a group of local winegrowers who promote their town in Provence as an attractive tourist and wine destination. That same year, Prince Félix and Princess Claire created, together with some friends, the “Young Empire” clothing, furniture and homeware brand for children.
Prince Félix regularly takes part in the activities of the Grand Ducal Family, for instance attending ceremonies or official activities (Luxembourg's National Day, etc.).
He currently holds the high patronage of both the FAL parachutist sports association and the Luxembourg Basketball Federation (FLBB).
Prince Félix also holds the rank of Knight of the Order of the Gold Lion of the House of Nassau.
