On Tuesday 14 May 2024, the Grand Ducal Police announced that a physical altercation broke out on Monday evening between several people at the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Ettelbruck.

On Monday 13 May 2024, shortly after 18:00, a police patrol that was in the vicinity intervened and had to call for reinforcements.

The attackers managed to get away for the time being, prompting the launch of an investigation.

Two injured people were taken to hospital for treatment.
