On Tuesday 19 March 2024, the Grand Ducal Police announced that they made an arrest in relation to an incident involving illegal possession of a firearm in Ettelbruck last week.
On the evening of Friday 15 March 2024, a verbal altercation was reported in Ettelbruck. One of the minors involved was said to have been carrying a firearm. The police initiated a search during which the suspect was identified.
During a house search ordered by the public prosecutor's office, the firearm was found and confiscated. Over the course of the investigation, the police were able to identify the person who had handed over the weapon (which had been reported stolen) to the minor.
Preliminary proceedings were opened and the suspect was brought before the examining judge in Diekirch on Sunday 17 March 2024. The Grand Ducal Police reported that detention awaiting trial has been ordered against the suspect.
