The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has confirmed details of its Christmas tree removal service.

Christmas trees in Luxembourg City will be removed as of January 2024. Spray-painted and/or decorated fir trees will be removed during weekly mixed residual waste collection rounds. "Clean" fir trees, i.e. those which have not been spray painted or decorated, will be collected separately, also on the day of collection of mixed municipal household waste or even the next day, with a view to their composting.

In both cases, residents should simply place the tree on the pavement or at the edge of the property before 06:00 on the day of collection of mixed residual waste (the calendar can be consulted on dechets.vdl.lu).

Trees measuring more than two metres must be pruned by cutting them in the middle.

It is also possible to return "clean" Christmas trees to the recycling centre on Route d'Arlon, open Mondays to Fridays from 07:00 to 19:30 and on Saturdays from 08:30 to 18:00 (last entry fifteen minutes before closing).
