POST Luxembourg has reported that the deposit and distribution of advertising materials for commercial purposes (aka junkmail), except for free press information, will be prohibited in mailboxes from 1 January 2024, unless the recipient has a formal agreement.
The change stems from new regulation under the law of 9 June 2022, amending the amended law of 21 March 2012 relating to waste. Therefore, citizens who wish to continue to receive advertising in their mailbox must now actively give their consent. To inform the public of this change, POST Luxembourg will distribute an information notice to all mailboxes from Tuesday 12 December 2023. To facilitate the formal agreement process for those who wish to continue to receive printed advertising, this publication is accompanied by three variations of stickers to stick, as desired, on the mailbox. If POST Luxembourg provides the stickers, it is up to the recipient to decide whether they stick a sticker on their mailbox and thus give their consent.
When distributing advertising materials, POST Luxembourg accepts as a formal agreement any type of sticker, supplied by POST, produced by another service provider or designed by the recipient himself.
Note that the "Keng Reklamme wgl" (no advertising please) stickers will no longer be necessary due to this new regulation.
