Yesterday, Wednesday 5 October 2022, a fire broke out at the Diekirch brewery in Diekirch.

The emergency services (CGDIS) were alerted at around 13:45 by a call to the emergency number (112) and dispatched fire brigades were dispatched to the scene, from CIS Nordstad, CIS Ingeldorf, CIS Bissen, RTW Nordstad, as well as CGO and GATO (use of drones), involving 40 firefighters in total.

A fire had broken out in a tower of the former brewery in Diekirch containing old fermentation tanks which were being dismantled.

According to the CGDIS, the firefighters focused their efforts mainly on protecting neighbouring buildings to prevent any spread of the fire.

They also reported that the Operations Management Centre has been activated to monitor the situation and anticipate operational coordination in the sector.

The Emergency Operations Commander in Diekirch declared the fire under control around 15:15, with firefighters continuing to extinguish the remaining fires in the tower.

Nobody was injured in the fire.
