On Wednesday 27 April 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning announced that the Chamber of Deputies (Luxembourg's Parliament) has adopted the Bill on the assumption by the State of the costs generated by the use of the natural gas distribution networks.

This bill is part of the measures taken by the government to mitigate the exceptional rise in gas prices due to the international situation.

To help households, the government has decided to cover the natural gas network costs for all residential customers, from 1 May 2022 until 31 December 2022. The network costs constitute part of the total price the supply of gas, which, in addition to the network charges, is made up of the purchase price of the gas itself, as well as taxes.

This measure will apply automatically and no action is to be taken by the consumer.
