On Monday 28 February 2022, in the presence of officials from the Public Buildings Administration, Luxembourg's Minister of Internal Security, Henri Kox, together with the mayor of Niederanven, Raymond Weydert, and the college of aldermen, laid the foundation stone for the future police station "Police Syrdall".
The new police station, called “Police Syrdall”, is located in Niederanven on the road to Trier on N1. The proximity of the future police premises to the A1 and A7 motorways, public transport, Luxembourg-Findel airport and the center of Luxembourg-City, is the major asset of the site.
The police station, which will be delivered in autumn 2023, will be housed in a modern building offering all the amenities and will meet the latest security standards.
The building will consist of three levels, including a car park as well as areas accessible to the public and various offices reserved for the police services.
The project also provides for the implementation of a concept relating to the comfort and energy optimisation of an administrative building, while generally respecting the ecological and economic criteria allowing for sustainable development.
The building, of energy performance class A and thermal insulation class B, will be heated by a 30 kW pellet boiler. The green roof of the building will be equipped with an installation of 30 kW photovoltaic panels, covering three quarters of the building's electricity needs. Likewise, LED type lighting with prismatic and dimmable reflectors will be installed.
Electric charging stations will be provided in the car park, in particular for service cars.
The works, the total cost of which amounts to €6.9 million, began in September 2021.
Provisional commissioning will take place in autumn 2023.
