Luxembourg's Ministry of State has announced that Luxembourg's Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, tested positive for COVID-19 this morning, Sunday 27 June 2021.

Following undertaking a self-test which yielded a positive result, Prime Minister Bettel placed himself in self-isolation in accordance with the provisions laid down by the Directorate of Health.

A PCR test carried out subsequently confirmed the positive result and the Prime Minister is in isolation, for a period of 10 days.
According to the Ministrty of State, he is currently showing mild symptoms (fever, headache) and will continue to perform his duties and functions by teleworking.
