The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a construction worker suffered serious injuries following a work accident in Bridel this afternoon.

At around 12:00 on Wednesday, an individual was carrying out fixing work on a construction site in Bridel when released gases deflagrated. The incident resulted in life-threatening burns for the victim.

The victim was taken to hospital after receiving first aid on site. The individual has since been transferred to a specialist clinic in Ludwigshafen in Germany for further treatment.

The public prosecutor took responsibility for securing evidence on site. Officials from the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (Inspection du travail et des mines – ITM) were also sent to the scene of the accident.
