The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) has announced the reopening of the Luxembourg American Cemetery in Hamm as of today, Monday 11 January 2021.

Whilst the cemetery itself is now open again, the visitor building and the chapel will remain closed to the public in accordance with local guidance to help ensure the safety of staff and visitors.

The Luxembourg American Cemetery was originally established on 29 December 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, and dedicated in 1960. The cemetery is the final resting place of more than 5,000 service members, including General George S. Patton. In addition, the Wall of the Missing at the Luxembourg American Cemetery memorialises more than 370 individuals.
