67.5k Accommodation Vouchers Redeemed as part of Vakanz Doheem

In response to a parliamentary question, Luxembourg's Minister for Tourism Lex Delles confirmed this week that over 67,500 out of the 730,096 vouchers distributed among residents and cross-border workers as part of the "Vakanz Doheem" campaign have been redeemed so far.

Over the summer, the Luxembourg government issued over 730,000 vouchers for overnight stays for a value of €50 to residents and cross-border workers, to be used by the end of the year. As of Monday 26 October 2020, a total of 67,518 vouchers had been redeemed. 

The Ministry of Tourism launched the Vakanz Doheem campaign to promote staycations in the Grand Duchy in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis.

Minister Lex Delles also announced the creation of new financial aid to support the sectors hardest hit by the health crisis, including the hospitality sector. Nevertheless, the value of unused vouchers will not be redistributed to accommodation structures if they are not cashed in by 31 December 2020.
