The Police Grand Ducale have been carrying out checks on bars, cafés, pubs and restaurants to ensure that they are abiding by the laws and regulations applying to the hospitality industry across the Grand Duchy concerning compliance with hygiene rules, as well as in public places.
On Friday night, in a restaurant on Rue Dicks in Luxembourg-ville, they discovered a number of customers on the upper floors of the building. Police officers were denied access at 01:30, so they called the fire brigade to force open the doors at 01:50; however, just before they did so, the manager opened the front door and the police discovered customers inside the building in the upper floors. The police officers had to wait until they left at 03:30 for the 15 customers to leave the premises. After taking their personal details, the customers were allowed to go, and a file is being drawn up against the operator of the premises.
Meanwhile, on the Place de la Resistance in Esch-sur-Alzette, another police patrol discovered a party in full swing with shouting and loud music, involving around a dozen people which then broke up at around 02:00.
And in Differdange, a police patrol discovered two customers in a café at 01:25, Also, in Ettelbruck, a man was arrested at the train station at around 23:00 because he refused to wear a mask on the train. It is understood that he had been drinking and was disturbing other passengers
