Luxembourg's Prison Administration has announced that a prisoner was found dead in his cell at Schrassig Prison on Sunday evening.
According to the Prison Administration, prison officers found the inmate's lifeless body at around 21:15 on the evening of Sunday 26 April 2020.
The judicial authorities have been informed and an autopsy carried out.
The Ombudsman in his capacity as external controller of places of deprivation of liberty, the Deputy Director of the Prison Administration and the Director and Deputy Director of Schrassig Prison were at the scene.
The Prison Administration confirmed that the family of the deceased has been informed of the incident.
