The Grand Ducal Police have confirmed that yesterday morning, on Thursday 16 April 2020, the lifeless body of a man was discovered in the Moselle river near the lock at Schengen.
The grim discovery was made at around 08:40, with a member of the public telephoning the police to report it. The police dispatched a sub-aqua unit by boat to the river at Schengen and recovered the body.
The public prosecutor investigated the evidence gathered at the crime scene and ordered an autopsy to clarify the cause of death.
The body has been confirmed as that of a resident of the nearby French border area, who had been reported missing since 5 April 2020.
