On Monday 13 April 2020, a 76 year-old resident died in a house fire in Pétange.
Shortly before 03:00 this morning, a fire was reported in a house in Pétange. Fire brigades from Pétange, Bascharage, Differdange and Dudelange arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze and to prevent it spreading to other homes; an emergency doctor and two ambulances from Pétange and Esch-sur-Alzette also attended the scene of the fire.
The fire had broken out in a bedroom on the ground floor for reasons yet to be explained. The body of the 76-year-old resident was discovered inside the house. Nobody else was injured.
The public prosecutor has ordered an investigation to be carried out by the police into the cause of the fire; and an autopsy was ordered.
The houses on both sides are no longer habitable.
