The Grand Ducal Police have reported that yesterday evening, Wednesday 25 March 2020, a riot occurred at the Schrassig detention centre at around 21:30, involving 25 prisoners.
The incident was reported to the police who dispatched a number of police units, including the police special unit and the police canine squad, to the prison, whereupon they quelled the riot at around 01:00 this morning. CGDIS units were also called out.
According to initial information, no one was injured during the operation, but there was some damage to property.
An investigation is expected to be initiated by the public prosecutor.
