In the context of the coronavirus pandemic and following measures announced by the government, the College of Aldermen of Luxembourg City announced a series of changes and cancellations over the weekend.

In addition to schools and creches being closed from Monday 16 March 2020 in the capital and across the country, the following events have been cancelled or postponed in Luxembourg City:

- Éimaischen scheduled for 13 April 2020 (cancelled, not postponed);
- Explore Luxembourg 2020 scheduled for 10-11 April 2020 in Place d'Armes;
- Sports for All programme (all sports classes and activities);
- Events and activities by the Youth and Social Intervention Department;
- All events and activities organised by Konviktsgaart and Senior Services, including open days, conferences and cinema screenings;
- Lunchtime concert ("Concert de Midi") planned for 20 March 2020, plus those planned for April;
- Public concerts planned in Place d'Armes in March and April;
- Guided tours organised by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), which will remain closed, up to 31 March 2020 inclusive;
- Pulvermühl citizen participation scheduled for 18 March 2020;
- Round table on endometriosis scheduled for 30 March 2020;
- Luxembourgish and sign language (DGS) courses organised by the Integration and Special Needs Department;
- Openings of the exhibitions “Charles Kohl” (Villa Vauban) and “Mateneen” (Ratskeller, Cercle Cité)

Similarly, Luxembourg City's cultural institutions and sports infrastructures closed their doors to the public on Saturday and until further notice, namely:

- Villa Vauban, Lëtzebuerg City Museum and Muerbelsmillen;
- Cité-Bibliothèque
- Théâtres de la Ville 
- Cinémathèque
- Conservatory
- Photothèque
- Cercle Cité
- Ratskeller
- National Archives
- Tramsmuseum
- Badanstalt (sports centre)
- Bonnevoie swimming pool
- Swimming pool on Rue d'Ostende (Belair)
- Kockelscheuer ice rink

Concerning citizen reception, the Bierger-Center and the Civil Registry departments will remain open to the public. Nevertheless, in order to minimise the flow of people in confined spaces, individuals are advised to limit travel to administrative counters to only emergency procedures. Indeed, the vdl.lu and guichet.lu websites offer an online service for various procedures.

In addition, mixed residual waste collection and biodegradable waste collection services will continue to be provided. However, the collection of recyclable materials will be suspended successively depending on the evolution of the situation. All collections by appointment have been suspended and the recycling centre (on Rue du Stade) has been closed to the public as of Monday and until further notice.

The face-to-face service provided by the College of Aldermen has also been cancelled as of Monday.
