Some event organisers in Luxembourg have recently taken similar steps to those in other countries by cancelling or postponing events over coronavirus fears.
In this context, the organisers of the ALFI European Asset Management Conference 2020 have postponed this event to a later date, whilst those of Relais pour le Vie today announced that this year's edition has been cancelled.
A spokesperson for ALFI has confirmed the organisers' decision to postpone the ALFI European Asset Management Conference 2020, originally scheduled for 17-18 March. The new date is expected to be announced as soon as possible, with all registrations remaining valid for the new date.
According to the ALFI spokesperson, this decision is considered to be "in line in with the measures many of ALFI’s members and business partners have taken, including travel and meeting restrictions".
Similarly, Fondation Cancer today announced its decision to cancel the 2020 edition of Relais pour la Vie, originally scheduled for 2-22 March at d'Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. This decision reportedly comes "following the risk assessment in the context of the current COVID-19 epidemic by the Health Directorate".
Fondation Cancer Director Lucienne Thommes explained: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce its cancellation. But the health of torchbearers, partners, volunteers and especially that of patients whose immune system is often weakened is our top priority".
In the coming days, Fondation Cancer will contact the team captains as well as the donors to inform them of the reimbursement procedures.
