The Hygiene Service of the Ville de Luxembourg has announced that households living within the municipality can avail of a service to remove used Christmas trees following the festive period.

The trees will be collected and removed during January, with those trees that have been sprayed being collected with the weekly rubbish/refuse collections, and those trees that have not been sprayed will be collected separately, on the same day as standard collections, and sometimes on the following days; these latter trees will be used for composting. All trees over 2m long much be cut in lengths shorter than 2m.

In both cases, it is enough to place used Christmas trees on the footpath or at the edge of the property before 06:00 on the day of collection - see dechets.vdl.lu for collection calendar.

It is also possible to hand over Christmas trees at the recycling centre on Route d'Arlon, open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:30 and Saturday from 08:30 to 18:00 (last admission 10 minutes before closing).
