
The Luxembourg Police have reported that unknown offenders blew up and stole money from a POST cash machine in Mersch in the early hours of Thursday.
Early this morning, at around 01:15, thieves blew up the ATM at the post office on Rue de Colmar-Berg in Mersch, before stealing money from the cash machine.
Despite debris flying through the air, no one was injured in the explosion. A wide area near the crime scene was closed off whilst the detective service of the Service de Police Judiciaire (SPJ) collected evidence. The Criminal Investigation Department are also involved in the investigation.
In this context, the police have made a public appeal for information. Anyone having observed suspicious persons or activity between midnight and 02:00 on Thursday or who saw the perpetrators' vehicle, or even observed suspicious activity before the event, should contact 113.
This incident comes just two days after an explosion at the Raiffeisen cash machine in Remich. On Tuesday night, unknown offenders blew up an ATM in the Jongebësch industrial zone in Remich, which was located outside the building on the facade. Due to the impact of the explosion, the cash machine was torn out of the anchorage and debris was thrown several metres away from the crime scene. The explosion caused significant material damage to the entrance area of the bank building. The Criminal Investigation Department are also involved in the investigation. The police have also asked for information concerning this incident, to be forwarded to 113.
