Today marked the launch of the new "Vakanz doheem" campaign as well as the presentation of the 2019 edition of the "Guide for one day" initiative in Luxembourg.

On Monday 8 July 2019, Minister of Tourism Lex Delles presented the new campaign "Vakanz doheem" which targets residents of the Grand Duchy and the Greater Region to make them aware of the beauty of the country and invite them to discover the natural and cultural wealth of Luxembourg.

As part of the "Tourism 2022" tourism strategy, this new campaign, which starts today, will be accompanied by awareness-raising actions across the country. In order to encourage residents and inhabitants of the Greater Region to discover Luxembourg, six "Augmented Reality" portals will be installed at the end of July across the country. During this initiative, visitors will be able to display panoramic 360° views of various tourist spots and hidden gems in Luxembourg on their smartphone screens.

Moreover, next week on 15 July 2019, a photo contest entitled "Vakanz doheem" will be launched on social networks. The public is invited to share their interpretation of the subject by posting a photo on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #vakanzdoheem. The competition will run until 15 September 2019, after which the winners will be announced on social networks.

Minister of Tourism Lex Delles also presented today the third edition of the "Guide for one day" initiative, which runs from 29 June to 15 September 2019. To date, 30 guides have registered and are offering some 80 guided visits. All guides are volunteers, independent of the official Luxembourg Tourist Office guides.

Visits are available in four languages and interested parties can register on the website www.guideforoneday.lu. Visits last an average of one and a half hours and will generally have about ten participants. The idea behind this project is to allow participants to meet each other in a friendly and informal way and to discover Luxembourg in all its facets together. Visitors can register until 13 September 2019.
