The Grand Ducal Police had reported that on Friday evening they responded to a call from a member of a public in Esch-sur-Alzette to a mass brawl involving 20-30 people.
The incident, described as "a fierce dispute" happened on the rue de la Libération shortly before 23:00. It is understood that the dispute involved a fist-fight with a number of people being punched. When the police arrived at the scene, they instigated discussions. When one of the crowd punched a police officer, they were arrested and handcuffed.
Nobody was seriously injured in the incident.
