Over the weekend, the Luxembourg Police arrested two individuals for possession of drugs.
On Friday, police officers noticed a moped in Differdange due to its registration plate which displayed some irregularities. On Saturday afternoon, the officers went to the home address of the moped owner. A family member let the police in, as the owner was absent. Also absent was the moped in question. However, the officers detected the smell of cannabis and, shortly after, found several bags of the drug in an open backpack.
The police informed the public prosecutor's office, which then ordered a house search. The search resulted in the confiscation of more than 100 grams of marijuana, about 70 grams of hashish, banned weapons and several mobile phones. The prosecutor subsequently ordered the arrest of the man. He went before the examining magistrate yesterday morning.
The police made another drug-related arrest on Sunday evening on the occasion of a bar inspection on Rue de Strasbourg. The officers noticed a man who evidently wanted to evade inspection as he attempted to leave as soon as the police arrived.
During a subsequent inspection and security search, the officers found a package containing several balls of heroin, as well as cash and mobile phones. The public prosecutor again ordered a house search in which the officers found more than 20 grams of heroin, cash, cell phones and drug paraphernalia. After receiving new information, the public prosecutor's office ordered the arrest of the man and the confiscation of the objects. He went also went before the examining magistrate on Sunday morning.
