The IMS Luxembourg, as an a.s.b.l. bearer of the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, has joined seven other charters in Europe in their promotion of the European elections.

The European initiatives of the Diversity Charters of Luxembourg, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Spain have been encouraging active participation in the European elections to guarantee and promote peace, social cohesion and economic success within the EU.

These eight European charters have emphasised the importance of voting in the upcoming elections (23-26 May), which start today in the Netherlands and the UK. The charters share the same message: "If we want to shape the political climate in Europe, if we want to determine our common way of life, the way we treat and cooperate with each other, abstention is not an option! Let us hear our voices, have our say and let diversity be a determining factor."

In the context of challenges currently facing the EU, the Diversity Charters movement across Europe has highlighted its concern about the rise of nationalism in Europe. The European Diversity Charters initiatives have thus called on European citizens to vote responsibly, for diversity and to make their voices heard to protect European values such as equality, non-discrimination, fairness and respect.

Indeed, the eight Diversity Charters "strongly advocate inclusion and equal treatment for all people in Europe - regardless of gender or gender identity, nationality, ethnic
religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and gender identity",
adding that "promoting and recognising diversity, including in the work environment, is always a necessity".
