A total of 170 applications for international protection were received in Luxembourg last month.

April 2019 saw the submission of 170 applications for asylum to the Luxembourg Department of Immigration. This represents a decrease compared to the number of  applications received in March 2019 (220) but an increase compared to the number received in April last year (132). 

The majority of the asylum applications last month came from people leaving Eritrea (39), followed by Afghanistan (22) and Iraq (11). Applications came mainly from the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa with five originating in America (three from Venezuela, one from Ecuador and one from Nicaragua).

The total number of applications so far this year is 798.
