The Grand Ducal Police has confirmed that, following a burglary on 30 November in the Luxembourg city centre pedestrian zone, in which a large number of luxury goods were stolen, including €80k worth of handbags, they have been recovered in Charleroi, Belgium.
As a result of rapid intervention and international cooperation, which the Grand Ducal Police have descibed as examplary, the suspected perpetrators were located at Charleroi airport and arrested shortly before departure to their home country on the basis of a European arrest warrant. The perpetrator had already checked in the luxury goods as travel baggage; they could be confiscated on the spot shortly afterwards.
The alleged offender will be transferred to Luxembourg in the coming days.
