The European Commission announced on Monday its decision to open an investigation into a possible fiscal State aid by Luxembourg to companies of the ENGIE (formerly known as GDF Suez) group.

The adoption of this opening decision is a procedural step that does not pre-judge the outcome of the investigation. It is not related to any other procedure currently in progress.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Luxembourg considers that no special tax treatment or selective advantage has been awarded to any ENGIE group company in Luxembourg. Luxembourg will submit to the Commission all information required in the context of this investigation.
