IMS Luxembourg is organising the first Bike Bus Luxembourg, in collaboration with Krys llc, in the Walk-Run-Bike project under the banner of alternative modes of transport in the European Mobility Week.
This is an innovative concept and a new solution to the private car since the objective is to travel in groups, cycling between Luxembourg City Train Station and Kirchberg. Taking the idea of a bus, an initiative bringing together 45 countries to demonstrate that it is possible to adapt the mode of transport to reduce car traffic and arrive at one's office more relaxed.
Mobility is undoubtedly a real challenge for companies in Luxembourg. Indeed, in the Grand Duchy, transport is the main cause of global warming (it alone accounts for 64% of CO2 emissions). The traffic congestion and stress that accompanies it has become a reality in everyday life, that is why it is urgent to find greener solutions that are healthy, economical and sometimes faster.
IMS Luxembourg has promoted this example by organising the first Bike Bus: a bicycle convoy that connects Luxembourg Gare with Kirchberg, every evening and every morning, beginning today and continuing until Thursday. Walking and cycling now account for only 13% of travel.
The launch of the Bike Bus was made on Monday at 09:00 in the presence of Luxembourg's Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, François Bausch, and Liz May, Olympic triathlete. The initiative will involve a number of companies this week to encourage motivated employees and athletes who choose to go to their workplace on two wheels.
