On Monday evening, a prison riot broke out at Schrassig prison involving 19 prisoners.
The event happened shortly after 21:30. The set fire to a common room, but this was quickly extinguished by the emergency services through a broken window.
With the involvement of both prison guards and police officers, the situation was brought under control shortly before 02:00 on Tuesday morning. While nobody was injured in the incident, there was a certain amount of material damage reported.
An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
