The Bibliothèque nationale de Luxembourg (BnL) has digitised several publications of the Luxembourg Naturalists Society (SNL) in an effort to contribute to conservation and help disseminate the intellectual heritage of the Grand Duchy.

The SNL wa founded in 1890 under the name 'Fauna - Verein Luxemburger Naturfreunde', before merging with the Grand Ducal Botanic Society in 1907. Today, the SNL is comprised of 400 nature enthusiasts and collaborates closely with the National Museum of Natural History, three working groups covering the areas of botany, entomology and mycology.

The publications which have been added to the BNL's online database are:

  • Collection of memories and studies published by the Botanical Society of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (1874-1903), the first issue in its memories and works series. The release rate depends on the abundance of available materials, with the last issue appearing in 1905.
  • 'Mitteilungen aus den Vereinssitzungen' = meetings records of the Luxembourg Naturalists Society (Fauna) (1891-1906) The Fauna Luxembourg Naturalists Society met on a monthly basis between 1891 and 1906, before merging the following year with the Grand Ducal Botanical Society.
  • Berichte - Bulletins of the Luxembourg Naturalists Society (1907 - scanned until 2011) Since the merging of the two society, the Bulletins of the Luxembourg Naturalists Society took over, whilst retaining the original numbering of Fauna. Beginning as a monthly publication, the reports became annual from 1946.

These publications constitute 482 in total, of which 13 look at Memories and Actions and 161 Reports and 308 Newsletters, equating to a total of 26,780 pages.

These pages join the more than 450,000 pages that have been scanned and made available online at the eluxemburgensia.lu portal since it was launched in 2009. The portal is available to access for free and from a distance, with the BnL elux app available from the App store for iPad users.

The digitised content of the eluxemburgensia.lu portal is also accessible via the a-z.lu search engine, allowing for searches across collections and the bibnet.lu BnL library system. This search tool allows users to view now only BnL's digitised content but also both printed and digital, national and international publications, available in 68 libraries in Luxembourg.
