Findings released by the Agence pour le Développement de l'Emploi (ADEM) and STATEC today have revealed that the Luxembourg unemployment rate dropped by 0.2% from August to September 2015, standing at 6.7%.
On 30 September 2015, the number of available jobseekers residing in the Grand Duchy and registered with ADEM was 17,026, showing a decrease of 927 people, of 5.2%, over the course of a year. In this same month, 2,219 people registered with ADEM, representing a 8.8% fall compared with September 2014. The number of recipients of full unemployment benefits also fell, down by 521 people between September 2014 and 2015.
By the end of September 2015, 5,426 people were allocated an employment measure, demonstrating an increase of 368 or 7.3% compared to the same month of the previous year. ADEM reported that almost a third of this growth was due to a greater number of training measures offered by the agency.
The number of vacant posts advertised by employers also rose 30% year over year, with 2,834 available positions reported in September 2015.
Regarding age, the greatest fall in registered jobseekers, as was the case in August, was found amongst under 30s, with a 9.1% decrease in one year. Little change was remarked amongst 50s+, with a -0.2% change found over the course of the year.
