On Friday 16 October 2015, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Sir Philip Craven, met with Luxembourg Minister of Sports, Romain Schneider, to discuss the potential of sport as a means of active participation of disabled people in society.
The Minister and IPC President first spoke of the meeting of the IPC Honorary Board which had been held the previous day at the Grand Ducal Palace at the behest of HRH Grand Duchess Maria-Teresa, as well as the fruitful talks that the IPC Honorary Board had with representatives of the Luxembourgish Olympic and Sporting Committee and the officials and athletes from the Luxembourg Paralympic Committee on this occasion.
The two also spoke of the active participation of disabled people in society in general and the sport movement in particular, Romain Schneider. In his capacity as current President of the Council of Sports Ministers of the EU, invited Sir Philip Craven to attend a structured lunch dialogue between public and sports authorities on the occasion of the Council Meeting on 24 November 2015 in Brussels.
Finally the two sports advocates discussed future major international events in the field of sport for people with disabilities, including Luxembourg's participation at the World Championships in Doha in october 2015 and the next Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
