On Friday 16 October 2015, an agreement was signed between the Secretary of State for Housing, Marc Hansen, and representatives of Caritas Luxembourg, which will see the Ministry of Housing provide financial support as part of the social rental management activity of Caritas Luxembourg.
The association's activity, of increasing importance, is accomplished through the framework of supported accommodation services (LEA) for homeless people, the open community housing service (SLEMO) for young adults and the accommodation service for refugees.
The agreement forms part of a government initiative to fight social exclusion linked to homelessness in the Grand Duchy, by supporting the rental of housing belonging to private landlords as well as the provision of such housing to anyone exposed to precariousness, poverty and/or social exclusions.
The costs related to social rental management by Caritas Luxembourg will be partially supported by the Ministry of Housing through an agreement providing a financial contribution per lodging and per month.
