The Grand Ducal Police called for vigilance from the Luxembourg population yesterday following several reports of questionable messages sent to members of the public, claiming to be from ING Bank.
This 'phishing' phenomenon seeks to obtain confidential information from targeted individuals through e-mails and text messages. ING Luxembourg has stated that it would never ask to sign anything or confirm personal information via SMS, and that this should therefore be a warning sign to anyone who receives such messages. The bank further urged clients to avoid following hyperlinks sent via e-mail or SMS.
The Grand Ducal Police reported that investigations were being initiated and a lawsuit filed to combat the 'phishing' cases.
