At yesterday's cabinet meeting, the Luxembourg government agreed to the sale of land from the Fonds d’urbanisation et d’aménagement du Plateau de Kirchberg to the state for the purposes of the construction of the Jean Monnet II building for the European Commission.

The new construction will be approximately 120,000 m2 in size, and will replace the existing Jean Monnet building. The sale relates to land most of which is currently used as a road or parking area. and, to a lesser extent, it relates to land hosting Annexes of the existing Jean Monnet building. The overall plot of land for sale is 214.92 ares.

The cabinet ablo agreed to the building of a 5th extension to the building of the Court of Justice of the European Union (third tower) and management of roads by the Fonds d’urbanisation et d’aménagement du Plateau de Kirchberg. The agreement concerns the provision of state land necessary for the construction of the tower and access roads. The overall plot of land for sale is 121.84 ares.
