At around 08:30 this morning, the Central des secours d'urgence was called out to a scene in Clervaux, after a bus carrying teenagers to the reception of the Association des Parents d'Enfants Mentalement Handicapés (APEMH) fell into the river Clerve near the railroad tracks.

The 'Plan Nombreuses Victimes' was launched to establish an advanced medical post at the scene of the accident, alerting emergency units and hospitals, as well as the blood transfusion service of the Croix-Rouge.

A total of 7 ambulances, 3 rescue units, 2 SAMU, the Director of Medical Emergency and the regional fire brigade were dispatched to the site, with the Central de Secours d'Urgence acting as reinforcement during operations.

The Psychological Support Group and the Inspectorat du Service Incendie et Sauvetage were also called out.

Two injured teenagers were taken to the ZITHA in Luxembourg City and six were brought to CHDN Ettelbruck. One person was critically wounded, one seriously injured and six left with injuries such as bruises and fractures.

Railway traffic was temporarily interrupted to facilitate relief operations and ensure access to the victims.

Various support structures were offered to those affected by the accident, with the Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Exploitants des Autobus et Autocars (FLEAA) supporting the bus operator involved in the accident, and APEMH guaranteeing support to the parents of the children on board.

No further details on how the incident occurred have been reported.
