In an open letter sent on 18 September 2015 to Luxembourgish Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, trade union LCGB has criticised internatinal cargo airline Cargolux and its lack of accountability in terms of creating a stable and confident environment for its employees.
In the letter, the LCGB cites Cargolux as a "cornerstone not only of the national airport but equally of the logistics sector, an economic sector the development of which the government wishes to promote in the course of years to come", before accusing the company of wrongfully terminating four pilots in April 2015 on the grounds of absence and on observations gleaned from surveillance videos.
The trade union concluded its 4-page letter by inciting the Prime Minister to action, stating that it had attempted to propose concrete solutions to re-establish a climate of confidence but had been met with dangerous and slack reactions from the directorate general, before commenting "without Cargolux, the airport can no longer be a regional and European freight centre, which risks incurring a serious and definitive loss to our country".
