The Lithuanian community in Luxembourg has announced that it is organising a series of photography-related events to celebrate two of the three European Capitals of Culture 2022: Kaunas and Esch-sur-Alzette.

Artūras Morozovas and Tadas Kazakevičius, two Luxembourg-based Lithuanian photographers, will present two exhibitions at Annexe22 in Esch-sur-Alzette; one exhibition is devoted to Esch-sur-Alzette, the other to Kaunas.

On 16 February 2021, the two photographers conducted a first online workshop (in Lithuanian language) and launched the humanist photography competition "Horizons of Luxembourg", which is open to Lithuanians, their family members and friends from Luxembourg and the Greater Region. An international jury selected the best 22 photographs, which will be printed and shown in Annexe22 from 3 to 10 April 2021 as part of a first exhibition.

On 5 May 2021, the photographers will conduct a second, free online workshop on humanist photography open to professionals and amateurs. The workshop will be held in English and translated into French. The most interesting photographs resulting from the event will be selected and printed as postcards.

From 19 to 26 June 2021, Artūras Morozovas and Tadas Kazakevičius will stage their second humanist photography exhibition, as part of which visitors will be encouraged to send one of the postcards from Luxembourg to people in need of support, particularly in this difficult time.

This project is partially supported by Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture and Esch2022.

Photojournalist and war photographer Artūras Morozovas is the recipient of the 2016 Award of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. He is one of the ambassadors of Kaunas 2022, European Capital of Culture. Tadas Kazakevičius won third prize in the 2020 World Press Photo Competition in the Portraits and Stories categories.
