On Friday 17 April 2026, Elisabeth Margue, Luxembourg’s Minister of Justice, participated in the ministerial meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in Washington, DC in the United States (US).
According to Luxembourg’s Ministry of Justice, the ministers reiterated their unwavering and firm commitment to fully support the FATF as a global standard-setting body for the prevention and fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (AML/CFT/CPF).
The ministry noted that the ministers confirmed their willingness to tackle illicit finance through coordinated multilateral action within the FATF framework, while recognising its crucial role in preserving the integrity of the international financial system.
According to the FATF, ministers also highlighted the impact of illicit finance on societies, noting that it undermines national and global security, weakens institutions and hinders economic growth and sustainable development.
