On Thursday 9 April 2026, Luxembourg’s Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, received Slovakia’s State Secretary for European Affairs, Marek Eštok, for a working visit in Luxembourg.
The meeting highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Luxembourg and Slovakia, also reflected in the presence of a Slovak community of more than 1,000 nationals in the Grand Duchy.
According to Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, discussions also focused on key European and international issues, including the situation in the Middle East and its implications for energy security. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the rule of law and multilateralism.
Minister Bettel also reiterated the importance of maintaining consistent and unified European Union support for Ukraine in the context of Russia’s ongoing aggression.
