On Thursday 22 January 2026, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden participated in an informal meeting of members of the European Council.
The meeting, which took place at the Europa Building in Brussels, Belgium, was also attended by President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Bart De Wever, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council António Costa, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Friedrich Merz, amongst other heads of state and representatives of Europe.
