On Thursday 18 December 2025, Luxembourg ‘s Ministry of State reported that Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden travelled to Brussels from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 December 2025 to take part in the European Council meeting.
The ministry noted that on this occasion, the Heads of State and Government discussed the European Union’s support for Ukraine and the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). Discussions also focused on geo-economic challenges and their implications for the competitiveness of the European Union.
On the evening of Wednesday 17 December, Minister Frieden attended the summit between the European Union and the Western Balkans, alongside other Heads of State and Government, during which he delivered a statement on behalf of the Benelux countries.
